NewspaperDirect Selected to Distribute Print-on-Demand Newspapers at G8 Summit
Same-day Issues of International Titles Will Be Delivered to World Leaders
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2004--NewspaperDirect (www.newspaperdirect.com), a leader in the digital delivery and printing of same-day newspapers from around the world, has been selected to distribute print-on-demand newspapers to world leaders at the Group of Eight (G8) Summit, which is being held from June 8 to 10 at Sea Island, Georgia. To meet the Summit's tight security requirements and the demand for same-day issues of newspapers from participant countries, NewspaperDirect will print on-site at Sea Island from its roster of over 225 titles. Key titles to be printed include the Daily Telegraph, Le Monde, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Globe and Mail, Yomiuri Shimbun, Times of London, Vedomosti, International Herald Tribune and Il Giornale.
NewspaperDirect's newspapers are exact reproductions of the original printed editions - in a more portable 11"x17" format. During the course of the Summit, and the period immediately before and after, over 15,000 newspapers will be distributed to heads of state, staff delegations and media.
In addition to George W. Bush, President of the United States and leader of the host nation, the leaders of Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Canada, Russia, and the United Kingdom, along with the European Commissioner, will participate in the Summit. Representatives from Algeria, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Uganda, Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Jordan, Yemen and Turkey have also been invited.
"We are proud to provide our print-on-demand newspaper service to the participants in this historic conference." said NewspaperDirect Vice President of Sales & Marketing Richard K. Miller. "Now for the first time, major events like this can overcome security and time constraints by having newspapers printed right on-site at the event location. For this Summit, the G8 leaders and their supporting staff will get their national newspapers on the day of issue, and in a familiar format."
